"Kinks Shirt" by Matt Nathanson
What I really appreciate about this video is that the song makes no mention of the woman’s trans* status; they could have easily done something different with this video, and had Matt’s love interest be cis.
But no, she’s trans*, and most importantly, Character!Matt doesn’t care. They meet, they flirt, they sleep together, they talk over breakfast and clearly have a connection. That’s what matters, not the fact that this woman wasn’t born with a vagina.
THIS IS A BIG DEAL YOU GUYS
God, I didn’t think I needed more reasons to love Matt Nathanson but apparently now I have some.
okay wow this is super cute
whispers having M/F ships doesn’t automatically mean you’re interpreting the involved characters as heterosexual
A tough Wyoming cowboy who just happens to like blouses
Sissy Goodwin isn’t gay; he’s been married for 45 years and has two adult children. As a young man, he was a rodeo cowboy who rode bulls bareback, a free spirit who never shied away from a fistfight. The former aircraft mechanic loves to drink beer, play golf, throw steaks on the grill.
What sets him apart, he says, is what he calls gender independence: He just likes to do most things in a dress.
A resilient guy living it out in Wyoming, a state he refers to as “the Mississippi of the West” for its disposition toward him, Goodwin has been beaten, arrested and glared at for years - but he continues his defiant dressing habits to this day.

As a queer, you read into texts. You hope that something is gay. Like you hope someone is. Scrutinizing for signs and signals. You read too much into things. And so, you take something you love and you read gay romance and subtext into it. And it’s not there enough—you simply read some more in. Rewrite it.
