AHA ok check this out
Oop.
basically gay marriage should be legal but it’s basically the least pressing queer issue there is. coincidentally it’s the one that allies care most about. haha ok come back to me when you care about the rates of homelessness and violence and suicide among queer youth
For me, queer means radiant darkness, radical love, and a million and one ways to resist and decolonize. Queer is imbued with deep spirituality and sweetness.

Everyone please repeat after me:
You can be genderfluid and not appear androgynousYou do not have to wear your gender/genderfluidity/agender in a socially acceptable manner only.
You do not have to meet other peoples standard of what your gender looks/acts/sounds like.
A full length feature documentary exploring the queer side of gaming and LGBTQ presence in the game industryHey, this ends in 4 days and it looks 100% worth backing! It’s only about 75% of the way funded so help out if you can!
the sj backlash to fetishizing gay male pairings has become an idea that casual homophobic(straight) liberals have latched on to as an argument against all m/m pairings and it’s getting really annoying please stop
#and calling m/m pairings mysogynistic ignores the fact that a lot of queer girls relate to queer dudes and are empowered by it #not everything is the sherlock fandom#str8 people man
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS POST FOR SO LONG THANK YOU
bless your face and bless this post
the vast majority of m/m slash shippers I have known in my decade of fandom have been queer women. maybe it’s because, gee, I don’t know, the strongest non-het relationships in most media are between men. I’d have more femmeslash ships if I fucking had more female characters who actually appear together in the same goddamn scene, let alone talk and form meaningful relationships of any kind.
as media is now, you are more likely to find interesting and nuanced canon relationships between men than you will find between women. (let’s also remember that girls are trained from a young age to relate to male characters - through assigned reading in school to the main characters in their favorite books and cartoons. male characters are more fleshed out and get more screentime and are emphasized more and are thus more relatable for a lot of women.)
punishing queer women for the media’s lack of queer women (and women in general) is fucking ridiculous. the fact that most fandoms have more m/m slash than femmeslash is a negative reflection of media and societal norms, NOT necessarily the people in the fandom. fandom is reflective of this shit, not the cause. fandom trends are only symptoms of a larger problem. I will say this as many times as it takes: M/M FANDOMS ARE LARGELY FEMALE SPACES AND PUNISHING THEM FOR MEDIA AND SOCIETAL NORMS THAT HARM THEM IS FUCKING STUPID AND HELPS NO ONE
straight people who rail against m/m slash shippers for special ally sj brownie points: you are not fucking helping and you need to stop. this is not your place and not your job.
“not everything is the sherlock fandom”
There is a book. It is called Rituals, and it is written by a genius called Roz Kaveney. It is about queer women who kick ass and take names and save the world (A LOT), and kill evil godlings and bitchslap vampires and put Jehovah in his place. And there is possible shenanigans going on between Jehovah and Lucifer, JUST IN CASE you were not sold already. There are chaos magicians in drag. And dragons. And polyamory. And opera. And Amazons. And okay, maybe the cover isn’t super pretty, but the writing IS.
If you only read one more book for the rest of your life, THIS IS IT.
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, GO READ IT!

heterosexual and queer
arent
opposites
because heterosexual trans people are still queer
uhhhh
idk, as a queer trans man, i’m very uncomfortable with straight trans* people using “queer”
that would be like if i tried to justify reclaiming slurs that belong to women just because i used to think i was one/present as one.
Actually it’s a slur that has been used to hurt and kill straight trans women just as often as cis and trans gay men (trans panic and gay panic are very closely linked) and they have a right to reclaim it if they want to <3333
i guess that’s a fair point on the part of straight trans women. either way, i guess i’ll let trans women have that discussion for themselves.
so i’ll focus on my fellow trans guys in these discussions.
this actually isn’t the first time someone’s made me realize that i should only be talking about straight trans men in my general complaints about straight trans* folks, and i’m disappointed in myself that i had to be told twice. i’ll definitely make sure to specify from now on.
also queer doesn’t have to mean queer sexuality….it can be about gender
and it doesn’t have to mean gay. I don’t feel weird about trans people using “queer” even if they’re straight, esp trans women but also trans men. I can imagine some douchey straight trans guy using it in some offensive way, but I don’t think queer is just for homosexuality
that’s kind of the point of “queer”. it doesn’t just mean “gay” or “bisexual”, it doesn’t mean any one thing. it’s a self-definition
I just fell in love with New Zealand.
After passing a marriage equality bill, the Parliament spontaneously broke into the Maori love song “Pokarekare ana.”
Lawmaking is usually messy at its best and downright grisly at its worst. When it’s beautiful, like this, it should be celebrated.

U.S. Congressmen: Please incorporate more singing into the running of the U.S. Government.
Congress would be better if there were more flowers, singing, and ladies wearing fabulous hats while voting.
