Firefly Simon and River Tam
I’m not sure if this prompt meant sister/sister or just any sister relatioinship, but whatever.
The Taaaams. I love them so much. I especially love the fact that even though River is the ‘broken’ one, and Simon is protective of her, she’s also protective of him. They love each other and look out for each other, and tease each other like siblings do, and oh god so much love for their relationship.
- Simon: Woah. Mei-mei. How you doin’?
River: I threw up.
Simon: Mmm…I’m sorry, it’s a side effect. We just have to find the right treatment for you. How do you feel now?
River: Going. Going back, like apple bits, coming back up. [shakes head] Chaos.
Simon: But you felt okay this morning?
River: [smiles wanly] Played with Kaylee. The sun came out, and… I walked on my feet, and… heard with my ears. I ate the bits. The bits did stay down. And I work. I…function like I’m a girl. [sobs] I hate it because I know it’ll go away! [sobs] The sun grows dark, and chaos is come again. [sobs] Bits… fluids! [sniffs] What am I?
Simon: Shh-shh…:[Simon hugs River reassuringly.] You…are my beautiful sister.
River: I… I threw up on your bed.
Simon: [Simon winces, then smiles.] Yup. Definitely my sister. [River smiles and chuckles while still crying into Simon’s shoulder.]
Day Twenty-Four: Favorite female romantic relationship
Secretary Lee Holloway and Mr. Gray
I can’t say enough about how much I love these two or this movie as a whole. Mr. Gray is obviously concerned that he’s coerced Lee into something she doesn’t want. Lee sets out to prove to him that she knows her own desires, even though she’s broken. While on one level you could see it as a typical ‘man fixes the woman’ movie, I see it as more (and from the commentary I believe the filmmakers did too). They fix each other and help each other learn it’s okay to be the people they are at heart. And what they do isn’t just about that. While it is, initially, in the end it becomes about having fun and doing something you enjoy no matter what other people may think.
In one way or another I’ve always suffered. I didn’t know why exactly. But I do know that I’m not so scared of suffering now. I feel more than I’ve ever felt and I’ve found someone to feel with. To play with. To love in a way that feels right for me. I hope he knows that I can see that he suffers too. And that I want to love him.
Day Twenty-Three: Favorite female platonic relationship
Covert Affairs Annie Walker & Auggie Anderson
Annie and Auggie are just so awesome. Unlike some of the other character, Auggie never underestimates or coddles Annie just because she’s new—and similarly, Annie never underestimates or coddles Auggie just because of his disability. She may question the wisdom of some things he does, or point out he’s breaking rules—something he’ll also do for her—but they’ve always got each others’ backs.

Day Twenty-Two: Favorite female character you love but everyone else hates
Final Fantasy VIII Rinoa Heartilly
Okay.
First, I don’t really *love* Rinoa. But I like her.
I see where the writing of her character is horribly flawed (esp. in the second half, when she and Squall just get personality transplants without any explanation), cliche, etc.
However:
I respect her for stepping out of her tiny little bubble and becoming an activist (even if she doesn’t always recognize her privilege), particularly as she is a leader of a group mostly comprised of men, even if that is only because of her financial well-being.
She’s (SPOILEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRS) a fucking sorceress.
Her dog is adorable.
And-
She’s only 17.
So some of her whinging and such? She’s still got a lot of growing to do. And I’m willing to believe that she’ll do it (and hopefully see that she and Squall will likely last all of six months before blowing up spectacularly).
[To Squall] You’re still a teenager. Why don’t you act like one for a change?
Day Twenty-One: Favorite female character screwed over by canon
Torchwood Toshikio (Tosh) Sato
Let’s review Tosh’s life, shall we?
-Her mother is kidnapped by the mob, which leads to her stealing top-secret plans, which leads to her being jailed by UNIT
-Gets kidnapped by cannibals
-Her girlfriend is an evil alien
-Her boyfriend is a doomed WWI soldier
-Her boyfriend is an evil alien who manipulated her memories so she believed they’d dated for a year when he’d only been there a day
-Her crush is a zombie
-Her town gets blowed up
-She gets killed by her boss’s brother from the future
YEAH I THINK SHE GOT SCREWED OVER.
Maths club. There’s something so reliable about maths. Always the right answer….My first flat. I don’t have a flat warming – there’s no one I want to invite….Knowing there has to be more to life than this, knowing I’m special, waiting for someone to see it.

Final Fantasy VIII Edea
Okay, so she’s not the antagonist, but she is for the first disc or so and Edea is bad ass. She’s a motherfucking sorceress, but even after that, she is so badass and loves her pseduo-children to the ends of time.
Day Nineteen: Favorite non-human female character
Final Fantasy XII Fran
Fran is so badass. She’s a navigator AND a fighter AND an earth-mother type, all in one bass self. AND? She’s non-human and a lot older than her appearance would lead you to believe. <3 If the game had focused on her and Balthier, I might have finished it.
