A devastated Belle? Missing her beast and doing her best to be strong and protecting an entire town? Emilie is bringing the angst, I see. Now I want to see Belle be a brave sweetheart who keeps Rum in her thoughts and defends him to others again, and it’s months away. Oof.

This is one of the most irritating things about the label “pansexual”, they are not even being consistent with their own frame of logic. “Okay, transmen are men and transwomen are women” “So you’re bisexual” “No, I’m pansexual because I’m attracted to men, women, and trans* people”.

I’m not gonna deny that my fellow pansexual people are cissexist (see OP). But that doesn’t mean pansexual is inconsistent. I am attracted to women. I am attracted to nonbinary people. I am attracted to men. I am not gonna say I’m attracted “regardless” of gender because that’s gender-erasing bullshit. FYI, mousesinger, not all trans people are women or men. There are nonbinary genders and some may or may not consider themselves trans.

That’s NOT to say I support pansexual people who are all “OMG, I’m attracted to men, women, and trans people!” because that is othering trans men and women as not “real” men and women. I am NOT bisexual. I never have been. I’m not just “bisexual with another name”.

It’s complicated and different for every pansexual person and I don’t expect people who make reductionist statements that equate pansexual to bisexual to understand that. My attraction varies but I find myself attracted to all genders. Sometimes I am drawn to femininity more; this is pretty often the case. Other times it’s androgyny that I’m more attracted to and other times it’s masculinity I’m interested in and rather than specifying this to everyone I want to share my sexual orientation to, I have a word that can describe this attraction. Bisexual has never been a word that worked for me. This isn’t even the first time I’ve heard this shit and unfortunately, due to people who generalize (you being one of them) it won’t be the last :’D
